Because Kosovo is not a member of the United Nations Organisation (OKB), it is impossible to be part of the Green Carton system. So Sami Mazrek, who said all technical conditions have been met in this direction, told Kosovo Radio.
“The Kosovo Bureau has about 7m euros reserved, even though this amount is greater than what the Bureau Council requires, but since we are not part of the UN, we are not able to make solutions in terms of Green Carton”, he said.
Mazreku said she has attempted through another country to be part of the Green Carton system, but has not been possible due to political problems.
“We have attempted through another state but the Bureau Council is saying you have political problems”, he stressed.
According to Mazrekut, Kosovo thus remains the only country in Europe that is not a member of the Council of the European Bureau, even though it has met technical conditions.
Because Kosovo is a new state and has problems with non-recognition by some surrounding states, there are also political problems which have not enabled Kosovo to be part of the UN. We've been engaged that over these two years, those that are technical to fill out”.
Mazrek further said they are already awaiting a report from the Bureau Council. He said another option must be found to be part of this Council. Green Carton is an international automotive security certificate accepted by the authorities of 47 countries, where Green Carton is valid.
