Without any public explanation, without even seeing any decisions, the names selected in the first competition for CEC governor did not go to the Assembly for review. The Kosovo Central Bank announced the new competition for the position.
However, after the process was accompanied by all these irregularities, the second Great Britain contest has been withdrawn from monitoring. This has been confirmed by the British Embassy in Kosovo for Nacional, through a written response.
It states that the first contest had given some candidates who could be elected governor but who were not appointed because they did not please anyone. As a result, British experts have withdrawn from monitoring the second competition.
We've been engaged in the first recruiting process for Central Bank Governor. This process has provided professional candidates capable of leading with position. However, none of the candidates recommended by British project implementation experts has been named”, initially reported in response to Britain's embassy.
It's our policy not to engage in re-declared processes which, despite giving appointed candidates, are not named just because those candidates don't like someone in decision making. But we haven't been involved in monitoring the Central Bank's process of Governor.”, the answer concludes.
The second contest had been open until 21 June.
What happened to the first competition?
The first competition for governor of the Central Bank of Kosovo was accompanied by many dilemmas. The CEC Commission had sent several names to the Kosovo Assembly, however, after they went to the Commission the process was blocked.
Nexhat Kryeziu, Ahmet Ismaili, Lulzim Ismajli and Shkelije Himaj. These had been four candidates who had entered the narrow list for the governor's position at the Kosovo Central Bank.
Although it was originally decided on the Commission that four names were handed over to the voting hearing, this did not happen. No details are known. Whether there is a decision to cancel the process is unknown to announce the new contest.
Taking into account that past Governor Fehmi Mehmeti expired with the mandate, then W. The D Governor took the Nuboro Union, former candidates for deputy of the former mayor of Pec from Vetevendosje.
In the quality of the U.D. Vice Governor, however, came Nexhat Kryeziu, also the former candidate for deputy from Vetevendosje.
Even at the first contest, there were doubts about incorrigibity. Britain's embassy had valued several other names that should be sent to the Parliament, yet it had not happened.
On the other hand, even though past Governor Fehmi Mehmet had the same point as candidate Shandija Himaj, Himaj's name was sent to the site, while Mehmet's was not.
As a result, the chairman of the BQ's board, Flamur Murator, was addressed to the Commission for Boards and Finances.
“Supported in this situation and given the rank of candidates (posital), I proposed that the candidate rather than five (5) list forwards after candidates ranked according to final verdicts with rankings in the rankings of 4 and 5 are absolutely equal points, and the reason for my vote against it is to observe “the parity of pre-law” as one of the constitutional final principles to avoid inequality on any basis and prevent the eventual discrimination of “
Opposition representatives and civil society have also reacted to the situation at the Kosovo Central Bank.
