On 12 July, Vuciq announced he had sent an official letter and a request for a meeting with NATO Secretary General.
The topic of the conversation should be the situation in Kosovo.
Stoltenberg and Vuciq will meet on the same day that talks will be held in Brussels between Serbia and Kosovo's top negotiators with special EU envoy for dialogue Miroslav Lajcak.
On 11 July, the European Union confirmed that Kosovo agreed to reduce police presence in and around municipal buildings in Zvecan, Leposaviq and Zubin Potok, north of Kosovo.
It was also agreed on the additional reduction of police force in these Serb majority municipalities, along with regular assessment of the security situation in co-operation with EULEX and KFOR missions, as well as preparations for holding local elections.
The Government of Kosovo has confirmed this, with the statement that “all steps will be completed within two weeks”. They added that police presence would be reduced by 25 per cent.
Tensions in northern Kosovo rose in late May when newly elected mayors entered municipal buildings with police assistance, which was rejected by local Serb population
