In an interview for ReutersOsmani has said that Kosovo can announce new elections, if 20 per cent of voters sign a petition with that requirement.
According to Osmani, the petition is “most democratic ways” for the election declaration.
This way, I think we guarantee the participation of Serbs, because the demand would have to come from them, from the citizens”, she told Reuters.
But prior to the election proclamation, Osmani has said Kosovo needs assurances from internationals that Belgrade will intervene.
It has described Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq as “dramatic fuel”.
“Vucciq, in most of his meetings, is quite a dramatic man. Therefore, he, of course, has tried to create dramas again, but has offered no ideas that can contribute to peace and stability in the region”, Osmani has said.
He wants to pretend that he's making big concessions, that he's under great pressure, that he's suffering, that he's in danger, and things like that. But such a thing should not be tolerated after four years of age”.
Otherwise, the situation in the country's north has been tense since May 26th, when Kosovo Police assisted the heads of three northern municipalities -- Leposaviq, Zvecan and Zubin Potok -- to enter their offices despite the resistance of local Serbs.
The situation escaped on May 29th, when local Serbs clashed with KFOR soldiers who guarded municipal facilities. On that day, 30 KFOR soldiers, eleven of the Italian contingent and 19 others of the Hungarian contingent were injured.
Their injuries include limb fractures, burns, while 3 Hungarian soldiers are wounded with firearms.
KFOR Commander Angelo Michele Ristuccia has stated that unless KFOR intervened in the north, “would now be mourning the dead”.
If we hadn't intervened, we'd now be mourning for the dead”, Rictuccia declared.
The international factor has repeatedly called for lowering tensions, and recently some have called for holding new elections in the north.
