The three people entered the store in the central town of Huançayo, where they managed to get 200 pairs of athletes but all turned out to be right foot.
The store owner estimates that all stolen athletes receive $13,000 worth, although thieves cannot sell them.
The lame attempt at a lucrative robbery was picked up by security cameras. The images show criminals breaking locks on the shop's shutters in the middle of the night, and using a three - wheel bicycle, they can steal from their shoes.
Local police chief Emani Díaz told the Peruvian media: “We have collected evidence at the scene. The unusual thing in this robbery is that only shoes belonging to the right leg have been stolen. With eyes and fingerprints, we'll be able to locate those individuals”.
