On the first half anniversary of this school year, about 400 students have left schooling, having migrated outside Kosovo. The largest number of dropouts, enrolled in higher secondary education, while connoisseurs say this has affected education process disorder and that the damage will be irreversible.

According to the Education Ministry's data, in the 2021/2022 school year, there have been a thousand and 384 students out of school, 90 from the primary level and a thousand and 294 at the top level. In the 2020/2021 school year, 992 students left school, including 109 at the primary level, and 883 in high education. On the first half anniversary of this school year, 442 students have left their lesson, 58 at the primary level and 384 in higher secondary education.

Media adviser to the Ministry of Education, Edona Maliqaj, told Radio Kosovo that the ministry has founded teams for prevention and response to abandonment, based on administrative guidelines for the establishment and functionality of the teams for prevention and response to abandonment.

“We have developed and is functional module for the early dropout warning system, which increases the premises for more efficient work in prevention and response to dropout of the school”, says Maliqaj.

“as well, handpicks are developed and used for the functioning of teams in schools and municipalities with clear instruments for identification, treatment and reporting of dangerous dropout cases”, she says of Kosovo radio.

“also held sessions in all municipalities and are constantly working on establishing school staff capacities for early identification and response to cases at risk of abandonment, working on preventing”.

According to Maliqaj, it has been working on establishing the Inspectorate's capacities, and recently it is working on establishing high school capacities, because the largest dropouts are at this level.

“Mbi this base, schools have been given access to, treatment and reference to real-time cases, according to legislation in effect. ”

Meanwhile, education issues connoisseur Xhavit Rexhaj told Radio Kosovo that every year there are about 3 per cent fewer students in Kosovo. According to him, one part comes from lowering the nightline, while the rest comes from constant and unstoppable flight of the population outside Kosovo. And that, he said, has affected the quality of education.

This has affected education processes disorder, especially in rural areas, but also in areas of the city. I believe that even in the areas of the city it will feel even more in the coming years”, Rexaj says.

This has already affected the quality and way of organising the education process and I think the damage is almost irreversible. ”

Based on data from the Ministry of Education, the causes of dropout of schooling are influenced by economic, social, and family factors, and even the individual and school factor are not excluded. The abandoned Kosovo by citizens for a better life towards the states of the European Union is considered by experts as one of the phenomena that will have serious consequences for Kosovo.

According to demographics, Kosovo also has a drastic birth reduction, and if such a nighting trend continues, within 10 years the number of Kosovo's population is expected to suffer significant decline, Kosovo Public Television reports.
