There is no record of why the number of job seekers has dropped.
These numbers are published by the Kosovo Statistics Agency (ASK). Disturbing remains the phenomenon of leaving young people abroad, where, according to economic affairs connoisseurs for two years, over 200,000 people have left Kosovo.
Safet Gerjaliu, an expert on economic issues, says migration of Kosovo youth will bring consequences to the country in the future. It requires that measures be taken as soon as possible in preventing this phenomenon.
“Numbers for job seekers are hanging. The lack of economic and political stability, as well as a lack of perspective for a better life, is forcing Kosovars to migrate. The very fact that the last two years are estimated to be more than 200 thousand left of Kosovo, and that figure is much higher. And that in this direction we have much more to do with lowering job seekers' numbers. When it comes to new jobs, much more is formalization by those who have worked without documents than are new jobs. And in this direction, there is a time when this going on has to stop because in the end this is a demographic pandemic that will cost Kosovo in every respect. Operational measures must be taken to find ways to stop the movement trend of young people”, Gerjaliu said.
