According to CEC data, 36.39 of the citizens have rightly voted by 6:00.
There were 144 candidates in the race. The elections have been closely followed, of about 230 international observers, the majority of whom were engaged under the direction of the ODIHR mission.
The voter's list for today's elections contained over 3 million and 650 thousand electors, including Albanian immigrants, who still cannot vote from the countries they live in.
Given their high numbers, real voters in the elections can be estimated at around 30 to 40 per cent less.
For mayors of 61 municipalities in Albania, 144 candidates from 40 parties and coalitions competed, including two independent candidates.
In contrast, for 1603 municipal council member positions, some 23 thousand and 700 candidates, including 10 independents, have been registered.
Preliminary results are expected to be published immediately after the completion of the process, and a post-election manual count of all confirmations will be made to verify accuracy.
