He said they did so because of “the concentration of tensions”, but that they will not recognise Kosovo.
We thought it was good to implement the rule of law and calm tensions between the two sides. We have not yet recognised Kosovo, nor will we. We try to be more constructive”, said Dokos, writes Croatian medium “Hina”.
Dokos added that Serbia under the agreement to normalise relations has promised that it will not block Kosovo's membership in international organisations and that Athens has referred to it during the vote at the Council of Europe.
“I hope our Serbian friends remember that we've been supporting them for years since”, Dokos said.
The Council of Europe gave the green light to Kosovo membership, as 33 member states were pro, seven against and five abstained.
In Serbia, they had trouble accepting Greece's stance as a non-recognising state for Kosovo's independence.
Serbia's Foreign Minister, Ivica Dacic, has declared he is disappointed with Greece's stance and has forwarded this to Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis's government, which is expected to hold parliamentary elections on 21 May.
