Kosovo's Special Prosecutor, has announced that in co-operation with the War Crimes Investigation Unit under the Kosovo Police, today he has arrested the defendant with the initials of Serbian Nationality, under suspicion of committing war crimes in Kosovo in 1999.
According to the report, the detainee allegedly, in the quality of the official person, at the Kamenica police station, had beaten the injured with the initials B.M.
The special prosecutor reports that the defendant Z.A., allegedly during the war period in Kosovo, specifically in March 1999, at the police station in Kamenica in the quality of the official person and in co-ordination with other members of the Serbian police, informed and armed, had originally beaten the injured with initials B. M, with rubber bars and kicks, tormenting it inhumanally, tortured and causing serious injuries, trauma and health consequences, and seriously living for an hour and a half, actions sanctioned according to local laws, customs of war and the Geneva Convention, and additional protocols”, the announcement said.
Also, according to the Prosecutor, there is reasonable doubt that the defendant Z.A., during the war period in Kosovo, specifically in the February-March 1999 period, in association with other members of the Serbian police and paramilitary groups, has participated in the deportation and violent deportation of the citizens of Kamenica with the district.
“Then it has begun to rob houses -- and then with the aim of damaging Albanian property -- it has set fire, as well as participated in the mistreatment of Albanian civilians. With these actions, the defendant, Z.A., had to commit criminal work “war crimes against the civilian population” by Article 142 concerning RSP's Article 22 of RSP”, it says in the end.
