Neziri Mehmetaj, who has been held in prison for three years and three months. He has been arrested in Serbia, under suspicion of war crimes where he is being held. According to his family at the last session held in January month, the detention measure has been continued until April. Valon Mehmetaj Neziri's brother tells of “IndexOnline” that despite spending thousands of euros on his defence, he continues to remain in custody. Family hopes remain in the state.
Mehmetaj welcomes the Justice Ministry's decision, which according to its announcement Prime Minister Albulen Hadziu, has indicated that last week she has asked Serbia's Justice Minister for two of our citizens to transfer to the Republic of Kosovo. Haxhiu yesterday via post in “Facebook” has published the request sent to Serbia's Justice Ministry.
“Neziri Mehmetaj and Petrit Dula are held in Serbia on claims of committing war crimes against the civilian population in Kosovo during 1999. Mr. Mehmetaj and Mr. Dula are citizens of Kosovo, so even under the protection of the Republic. The process so far towards the two citizens of the Republic of Kosovo is made up of serious human rights violations for years. Any charges against them for alleged crimes should be handled by law bodies in the Republic of Kosovo”, Haxhiu wrote.
While Mehmetaj says the minister's decision is the best solution.
“In the last session held in January, the detention measure has been continued until April. I'm thinking it's the best solution she had to happen would be that, because even though it's not about the prosecution we've tried in every respect to find an option by spending thousands of euros on defense but we haven't done anything yet. We haven't had any financial support, even though the charge was war crimes. We have contact with the brother and he's been visited by his son, he has diabetes and we need him to send therapy to”, Valon Mehmetaj said. /IndesksOnline/
