The number of victims caused by the two powerful earthquakes that hit Turkey and Syria on February 6th has risen dramatically.
According to reports, so far in both states, 45 thousand people have been confirmed, of which 5800 in Syria and nearly 400,000 in Turkey alone.
Meanwhile, the situation continues to be serious, although 13 days have already passed by terrible earthquakes, there is still hope and work to get others out of the ruins.
On the other hand, Turkish authorities have immediately launched reconstruction work. Media in Turkey report that at least 70 thousand buildings, which are still standing, will be destroyed during the following days, after being deemed uninhabitable. From earthquake-hit areas, more than 370 thousand people have been evacuated so far.
Meanwhile, UN aid and other organisations continue to come to the aid of those affected by the earthquake, even though the situation in Syria is the most problematic. A total of 178 trucks carrying aid from Turkey to northwest Syria have crossed the border since February 9th, the UN said.
