The Kosovo Democratic Institute has criticised the Kosovo Assembly for the way the session called by the opposition for financial support for the Kosovo Police was held yesterday.
KDI has explained that the decision by Parliament Speaker Glauk Konjufca to hold the session without meeting the quorum sets precedent and should not be allowed.
“During yesterday, the Kosovo Assembly has held an extraordinary session called by opposition MPs. Although called on to address an important topic -- the resolution for urgent financial support of the Kosovo Police -- MPs from the VV-led parliamentary majority did not participate and this session failed to meet the legal conditions to begin. The constitution and regulation of the Parliament determine that to begin a decision-making session, the quorum is necessarily needed, 61 deputies”, KDI says, respectively.
In addition, the Institute has criticised MPs in the position of irresponsible.
“Despite MPs in power this time again showed a lack of responsibility against the position they carry, the Speaker of the Parliament enabled the development of debate and the expression of opposition opinions about the subject. However, this practice should not be allowed to repeat because it can create a wrong precedent, allowing individual or group will to be able to hold” sessions.
