German Foreign Minister: No alternative but Ohrid Agreement on Kosovo, Serbia

German top diplomat Annalena Baerbock at the conference she held today in Tirana the Ministry of Foreign Ministers of the Berlin Process made it clear that Kosovo and Serbia should stick to the Ohrid Agreement. She said compromises must be made by the parties and that the powers to withstand the opposing currents in politics [...]
She said compromises must be made on the sides and that the powers of the country face the opposite currents in domestic politics.
“There is no alternative other than Serbia and Kosovo to firmly engage in implementing the Ohrid Agreement. What we expect is more willingness to compromise and courage to withstand even the opposing currents of domestic politics. It is on these bases that the EU” has been established, she said.
While speaking of the need for EU enlargement and the membership of Western Balkan states, the German foreign minister said that in the region, sparks that could spark old conflicts should be extinguished.
“We would like to permanently extinguish the flames of old fires, the numerous hearths of major and small conflicts in the region”.
In this direction, Baerbox said the Serbian side has provoked sending troops to the border with Kosovo.
The Serbian side's “Provocations through increasing troop presence on the border with Kosovo have further fuelled the situation, which was also tense and we talked about during the meeting. And this occurred after a subtle attack against the Kosovo Police by a terrorist gang armed to the teeth. We therefore expect the Serbian government to advance the investigative processes of the 24 September events and contribute to clarification of circumstances, as well as the May event against KFOR soldiers”.
