Following the citizens' numerous reactions to increased property tax rates, the Ministry of Finance finally reacts. The latter says the tax rate is determined by the municipalities themselves.

The Ministry of Finance, Labour and Transfers announces citizens that property tax is tax tax, which is collected by municipalities and constitutes one of the main sources of private revenues for municipalities.
MPPT, based on the Law on Property Tax, is obliged to make regular grounds for real estate assessment, while the tax rate is determined by municipalities themselves.
The Property Tax Department, under the MFPT, carried out a total assessment of land and residential objects through 2022, and compiled evaluation reports of residential property on the 3110,2022, of which all the municipalities were reported.
During the assessment of residential property, the Property Tax Department has closely co-operated with municipalities to determine the price for m2 for objects and land.
The overall assessment is carried out based on market value based on the cerrast Department of Property Tax uses the following data:
Residence property trading contracts (no older than 3 years);
Interview with real estate sales agents;
property owner polls;
Interview with bank officials on property values used as collateral;
valuables that have been expropriated;
lease data; and
Data from the construction company.

It is noteworthy that in the 2023 tax year, total land flow is not implemented, since we have already entered the 5th year of land tax. As of this year, all residential, commercial, industrial and forest lands are taxed at 100% of the estimated value, as opposed to last year where the total drop of 20% has been implemented, where lands have been taxed by 80% of the estimated value.

For any complaint against the estimated value for your property you are instructed to head to your municipality to file a complaint to the certificate of value value, which is then considered by the Property Tax Department at the Ministry of Finance, Labour and Transfers.
