When ten days remain in effect of the Public Sector Law, the value of the cofficient is still unknown. The Kosovo Assembly, through the law, has approved the rankings of cofficients for public officials, but without being aware of the value.
Kosovo Administration Independent Trade Union Chairman Ali Gashi has declared for Kosovo Press that not determining the value of the wage cofficiency has created concern and discontent with public officials.
Gashi has indicated that any value of the cofficiency under 130 euros is obliged to negotiate with union partners and see how they will act further.
According to Gashi, from drafting to adopting the law there has been a serious lack of transparency.
The Public Administration's <x0). Now it turns out, don't define the value of the cofficiency which has created a tremendous concern by analyzing in almost all of society's ports how much this value of the cofficient will be. The fallout of this we have every kind of conspiracy which comes out supposedly on behalf of institutions, but this has created an extraordinary dissatisfaction with public officials”, Gashi stressed.
Gashi said they have proposed that the value of the cofficiency be 130 euros based on an analysis, taking into account inflation and the heavy situation in the country.
He added that any cofficient at this value is merely cosmetic.
For us, the Public Administration Union is what we've proposed, which is 130 euros. This value is defined after a deep analysis, taking into account not only inflation but also heavy economic situation, high prices and the trend of price hikes that have almost become daily. Therefore, any cofficiency that would be under 130 euros would be eye-to-face, as it would not meet the expectations of public officials”, Gashi said.
The head of the Public Administration Union said it is unfair that the wage cofficiency is not yet known, according to him, there is a law that has been drafted for wages and does not determine the salary.
Here we have various speculations, there will be such a value, all these speculations, and all this situation that might be called the stallion created, is due to the non-transparentness of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, as we consider that at the moment the wage bill was drafted, it had to be the value of the cofficient, because this law is made for public officials, this law is entitled the law of public officials. In the context of all of this, we have a law that is drafted for wages and does not determine the pay”, Gashi adds.
Asked what their reaction would be if the value of the cofficient was below 130 euros, Gashi said it remains to be discussed with other union partners as well.
“We insist that it be worth 130 euros and therefore we don't want to speculate, yet any value that will be under 130 euros will force us to sit down again with our union partners and union members that we represent, namely, civil servants and we will discuss all the things that will then come out to discuss”, Gashi said among others.
Prime Minister Albin Kurti had called for patience over the release of the bounty for salaries, saying it would take place during January. Opposition parties have demanded that the value be 130 euros.
