Russia has collected $158 billion from oil and gas exports since the start of the Ukraine invasion. The Centre for Energy Research and Clean Air (CREA) reported, under which half of this money, Moscow has received it from the European Union.
Energy prices, especially natural gas, have increased to record levels in Europe since Russia has reduced supply to union countries. “Fuels and gas have contributed around $43 billion to Russia's federal budget since the start of the war, helping finance its”, CREA said.
According to her, the European Union is the largest importer, paying 81.5 billion euros to Russia for fuel and gas. Next comes China, with around 34.9 billion euros and Turkey third place, with 10.7 billion euros. Within EU countries, Germany is the largest importer, buying gas and fuel worth 19 billion euros from Russia over the past six months.
The figures are even more remarkable if it is considered Russia has lowered exports by 18%, while EU countries have lowered by 35% the import of fuel and gas since the start of the war.
