RRGk has been begging from the provisional justice organs for Ahmeti.
Full response:
Today we were reported through the media for a case of domestic violence by a public person and a journalist on our media. Kosovo Women Network ( S. The GK) through this response requires that institutions take the necessary actions for violators to be banned and security measures assigned to them in order for the same ones to be prevented from repeating domestic violence, and the RGK requires merit punishment under legislation we currently have in place.
It also requires that journalist Arben Ahmeti be dismissed from all leading positions and his presence in the media be criminalised and not present in television debates. His presence in the media and public appearance are dangerous, as through them it can promote violence and potentially also normalize it.
In fact, public persons who are bullies only urge violence to increase and women to be treated as objects. RGK requires that such cases be handled with the greatest seriousness of our institutions and violators suffer merit punishment. Through this reaction, we invite the media to report on the case with full accuracy, not saving it for the sake of <x0-foot friendship” that they have with journalist Arben Ahmeti.
Also, we call for a focus approach to the victim during work with domestic violence victim and for the same to receive needed and appropriate assistance.
RGK will monitor the response of institutions to this case, and RGK will not stop until violence against girls and women is treated only as daily news or as private issues.
RGK remains open to co-operation and assistance for victims of gender-based violence through free legal consultation and reference to relevant institutions. If you need free legal assistance for gender-based violence cases, or you know someone who needs it, contact us at the number 038 245 850.
