Kosovo police banned an ambulance loaded with drugs that were illegally introduced into the territory of the Republic of Kosovo. This prompted the so-called head of the Kosovo office in Serbia, Petar Petkov, who said citizens are being persecuted.

This is the full response of the Kosovo Police:

Kosovo police, through this official information, announce the opinion and citizens that all its police actions are taken based on legal authorisations, in the interest of all citizens and country.

At the same time through this official information exposes various, false information that are circulated that Kosovo Police, in northern Mitrovica, are stopping and torturing citizens during the exercise of police duties.

The circulation of these false information is aimed at disinforming and creating an untrustworthy citizen.

We assure you that Kosovo Police through the implementation of police duties and authorisations has the sole purpose, prevention and fighting of all kinds of crime and smuggling, the preservation of order and public safety, as well as the provision of security for all citizens without distinction.

During the implementation of police duties at a checkpoint in northern Mitrovica, border police officials have been hampered in the conduct of office by a person who was in a drunken position, who according to police procedures has been accompanied to the police station. All actions to the same will be undertaken in co-operation and co-ordination with justice organs.

We invite citizens not to fall prey to such inaccurate information.
