Following the mandate until August 31st, 2024 of the Slovak diplomat acknowledged the 27 European Union member states.
Lajcak has declared that for the next 24 months, opportunities are real for Kosovo and Serbia to reach agreement on full normalisation of relations.
Bodo Weber from Germany's Berlin-based Democratic Policy Council has spoken about this.
“If the entire EU-US policy falls to the level of special representatives such as Lajcak, this will definitely not be enough for the warning made, but on its part, to become a reality”.
The German “Kancelar, with his recent visit to Pristina, has shown he wants to have a more active role in the process. But this is far from taking leadership initiative. This can only be successful if it comes from Chancellor Olaf Scholz and President Joe Biden”, Weber, who is one of the leading German researchers for dialogue developments, added.
Meanwhile, Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbia's President Aleksandar Vuciq have exchanged strong accusations in distance.
The Kurt standing in Washington told the “Voice of America” that it is Vuciq who failed to hold the meeting in Brussels on 19 July. According to him, the leader in Belgrade is Russia's satellite and no recognition deal.
While Vuciq said on Thursday evening in an interview for television “Pink” that meetings with the Kosovo side may have, but “Agreements not until Kurti is in power”.
Leaders of the two countries for the last time under the Brussels format met on July 19th of 2021.
