During his speech, the German MP expressed regret that the EU had the chance three weeks ago to liberalise Kosovo visas and give a boost to Albania's integration process and the RMV.
However, Ahmetovic added, the new government of Olaf Scholz will work to have our country start negotiations with the EU next week.
We as the new government see Albania as an EU member. Three weeks ago we had a conference, I gotta say I'm critical myself. We had a historic chance to give Kosovo visa liberalisation and help Albania and RMV on the path to integration. We will work next week for Albania to start negotiations. You also have my personal support for Albania's integration and EU membership... to represent the EU compromise to find a solution for Albania and RMV.”
During his speech Balla also said that the Open Balkans enable EU freedoms in the region.
“We have discussed many issues of mutual interest, and we highly appreciate the Berlin process as a process that has positively affected, as in our assessment the Open Balkans is the right instrument and has produced concrete results in helping entrepreneurs and citizens in our region. I remember that the German Chancellor is clear in the continuation of the Berlin process and has the Balkan membership process”, Balla said.
