Economists warn: Up to 60 thousand people can leave this year

Musa Limani, an expert on the economy, said that if visa liberalisation occurs, Kosovo will be emptied. Limani said the main consequences are economic, social but, above all, national.

“Normically that it will likely, this number will increase even more because there is no possibility that we will have any intensive development and Kosovo will be emptied in case of visa liberalisation. Just one clue, last year with all my information, Kosovo has released 400 doctors. We'll remain without a doctor in the future. This migration of our youth will present the lack of labor force in the future“.

Now it depends on how they secure the visas, or how many visas they can secure they will take the world in the eye. I think they're going to grow, not reduce migration. The main consequences are economic, social, but above all national consequences, because Kosovo is being emptied. We're going to have a shortage of a workforce tomorrow”.

He considers that many couples disagree to have children because of poor economic conditions. According to him, last year's natural growth was 14,000 people, compared with 1989 when it was 47 thousand people, while stressing that there would be depopulation.

“Vec has grown older in Kosovo's population, social problems are affecting youth not to create families precisely in the absence of social problems. It is promoting marriage, or a phenomenon that other countries especially enjoyed Germany, coexistence. Coexistence is nation destruction, it means living together a couple, but they don't agree on creating families. This way step by step is reducing youth and coming to age Kosovo's population. A statistically accurate data, in 1989 natural growth -- that is, the difference between nightliness and Britain in Kosovo -- has been 47 thousand, while in 2021 this natural growth has dropped to 14,000. If this trend goes into migration, and the question of delaying marriages does not come to aging, but there will also be depopulation of Albanians in Kosovo”.

Even economic connoisseur, Ramadan Hamid, said that citizens' flight would continue, due to poor conditions. According to him, the number of exits from Kosovo will be brought by between 50 and 600,000 people.

I've been following this 2013 and 2015 exit case, there's been mostly. About 100,000 people have left, but mostly people who had no jobs. Now the worst people with faculty diplomas are leaving, and that is the biggest problem for Kosovo. I believe last year they received 34 thousand German visas. This year it will be much more, nearly 50,000 or 60 thousand who will leave, and thus Kosovo will remain without professional quadro”.

He has clarified that Kosovo is pardoning experts, especially doctors, Germany, adding that preparing a specialist doctor costs the state budget 200 thousand euros.

“Diku are about 43 thousand people who have gone to work outside Kosovo. They are leaving because of poor conditions, doctors are leaving because of low wages, nurses, and trade tradesmen with huge markets in Germany. The biggest mistake of ours is because preparing a doctor specialist costs Kosovo's budget around 200 thousand euros, and we're forgiving Germany because their salary is 600 euros”.

As far as the consequences are concerned, he says the country will remain without a doctor, without engineers, architects and professionals in the field.

He says that after 10 years current doctors will retire and there will be no new professional frameworks.

On the other hand, the price of people who have different professions has increased, mainly because they are employed in Germany, and they are not needing German-language courses.
