Russia avenges Beden: It sanctiones his wife and daughter

Russia's Foreign Ministry has said through a statement on June 28th that 23 other academics and American officials have been added to the list, including Republican leader in the Senate, Mitch McConnell and senators, Charles Grasley, Kirsten Gillend, Susan Collins, Ben Sass, and Martin Heinrich.

“In response to the expansion of US sanctions against Russian politicians and public figures, 25 American citizens are involved in the ban list. There are also senators responsible for the creation of the Russophobe narrator, as well as members of President Joe Biden”'s family, said in the statement.

Sanctioned persons are forbidden access to Russian territory.

The United States is at the helm of international efforts to impose sanctions on Russia due to Ukraine's invasion, launched on 24 February.

Washington and the European Union have imposed sanctions against several individuals, including Russian President Vladimir Putin and his daughters, against Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his family, as well as against some oligarchs associated with Putin.

The West has implemented severe sanctions on Russia, isolating its financial network, then freezing assets and imposing partial embargo on Russian oil imports. / A2 CNN
