Hours before the summit, Varhelyin ultimatum Bulgaria: Proposal for Albania, Macedonia

While today is expected to hold the European leaders' summit, where it will be decided on the fate of some countries if they win candidate status for opening negotiations, one of these is Albania. Commissioner for Enlargement and Good Neighbor Oliveér Várhely has called on Bulgaria to [...]

The commissioner for Enlargement and Good Neighborship, Olivér Várhely, has called on Bulgaria to approve today at the EU Summit the proposal for membership of Albania and Northern Macedonia in the EU.

“The EU takes all Bulgarian concerns very seriously, and now they are part of the negotiations process. The moment for responsible decisions is now. The Western Balkans must be part of our European Union. Together we will be stronger.

We call on the Bulgarian Parliament and all sides to fulfil their commitment and place the proposal for Albania and Northern Macedonia for approval today, as proposed earlier.

Bulgarian opposition leader Boyko Borissov has already indicated leadership by putting the proposal on the table. We need everyone to do the same. The EU has to move”, Warhely writes.

We remember that yesterday Bulgaria removed its veto from northern Macedonia, thus giving a green light to start negotiations. But some or others after giving up the Bulgarian veto parliament brought down Prime Minister Petkov's government.

♪ EU Takes all Bulgarian problems very serious and they are now part of the negotiation processes. The moment for available concessions is now. #Westeren Balkans should be part of our #EuropeanUnion. We will be strong together.
