Kosovo police have detained a total of six people on suspicion of trying to introduce smuggled goods into the Gjilan region on two occasions, along the Kosovo-Serbia border. Despite trying to avoid police ban, suspects have been detained along with smuggled goods.
“First the task force unit based on stock analysis and intelligent information has identified a tractor run by the Kosovo male suspect, where goods such as ground meat, drugs, alcoholic beverages, chickens, rabbits and birds (slumba)” have been found in it, the police report said.
While in the second case, a person who was watching the road behind him in a tractor was the Kosovo male suspect, who also had cargo loaded with: alcoholic beverages (striking), various pesticides, disassembled chairs, pyrotechnic tools, alcohol, red wine, and white wine.
The case is being handled by relevant police units from the Regional Border Directorate East along with Regional-Gylan investigations.
By order of the competent prosecutor for the six persons involved in both cases, police detention measures have been scheduled for 48 hours, while smuggled goods have been sent to the customs terminal for counting and praising the goods on the part of Kosovo Customs.
Kosovo police have said they intensified tactical and operational controls on the ground with the aim of preventing the introduction of smuggled goods into Kosovo.
