Police and emergency rushed to school in the Ulyanovsk region in the country's western after shooting reports.
A man had opened fire inside the nest, killing two children and a teacher before turning his gun against himself, reports Tass, broadcast Klankosova.tv.
It is learned that the children were five and six years old.
“He opened fire in the bedroom where children were sleeping”, said a source for the news agency before claiming that a second member of the staff received a gunshot wound to the arm.
The source told Tass that after the shooting there may have been a conflict in the family, though this is not confirmed by the law enforcement agencies.
The governor of the region, Alexey Russkikh, will fly to the site of tragedy and have ordered emergency aid to families of those killed.
The identity of the armed person is unknown, though some reports on the Internet have confirmed that the weapon was owned by a 68-year-old.
People at the scene have said the armed person seemed to be much younger than that, the Moscow Times reports, broadcasts Clankosova.tv.
