The Belgrade-based GEN company, which included the name of Kosovo Ambassador to Croatia, Martin Berishaj, is turning out to have received millions of euros from the state budget, right at the time of energy collapse. The Kosovo Energy Corporation, according to the electricity exchange reports provided by Infocus newspaper, has acquired electricity worth 4.2m euros in December 2021 and January 2022, while selling electricity to this company for about 105 thousand euros.
This company, which was reported to be Ambassador Martin Berisha, is their adviser and raised media doubts about suspicious transactions worth over half a million euros, in fact according to documents constantly provided, has made energy trade with KEK.
Surprisingly, even in the months when Kosovo was in the energy collapse, KEK turned out to have sold electricity to this company, but at twice the price of the purchase price.
This trade exchange was made with state budget money -- ahead of which Prime Minister Albin Kurti had shared for buying electricity to overcome the crisis that has engulfed Kosovo.
KEK alone in this period, had bought electricity from this company for two months and then authorized the KED company / KESCO. But the sale of energy at highly convenient prices has continued even after this period.
While KEK in January 2022 has sold electricity to the GEN company at prices of only 105 euros per megawatts, it has purchased electricity from Belgrade's headquarters company at a price of 255 euros for one megawatt.
In the documents it has secured, the purchase of energy is made by two GEN companies, which have one office in Belgrade and another in Skopje. But the largest amount was purchased from Belgrade.
From this company, electricity worth over 2.3m euros was imported in January this year. And in December 2021, it imported electricity worth over 1.9m euros.
KEK's total import from all companies for December 2021 and January 2022 exceeds the figure of over 15.1m euros.
Following the publication of this scandal, which was originally revealed by Slovenian television, TV plans -- raising doubts that over half a million euros -- in cash -- were carried by Montenegro to Slovenia, while the role of the mule, or cash carrier, was carried out by Kosovo's ambassador, Mr. Berishaaj, numerous reactions have followed.
Reactions and criticism have come from most analysts and the opposition, where they have asked for Ambassador Berisha's resignation, but strange has been the reaction of Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani, who in a statement stood up for him, saying he accused the journalist of making consultations and no questions.
The question that wasn't really a question, but an agreement, is regret that you found a thing for a Kosovo ambassador, but that it wasn't filed by any justice organ, but it's just written by a media that the ambassador has completely denied and will follow all legal ways. As for the decree, of course I have decreed citizenship because it's the president's competence so I've acted in full accordance with the” law, the president said before journalists.
