Szunyog announced via Twitter that with Maloku they agreed to step up co-operation to bring justice to people in Kosovo.
After yesterday's session of the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council, today I have met with KKP Chairman Jeanish Maloku to discuss the performance of the prosecutorial system. We agreed to intensify our co-operation aimed at providing justice to Kosovo's people effectively and impartially”, the EU chief wrote.
Yesterday, the EU chief in Kosovo, Thomas Szunyog, has expressed disappointment with the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council for the process of electing the chief state prosecutor.
In a Twitter response, Szunyog has written that the EU has consistently called for a fair and meriting process, but that did not happen.
“against the European Union's continued calls to ensure a fair and transparent choice and based on credit for the chief State Prosecutor, the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council concluded the selection process by ignoring those principles. We are surprised and disappointed with these KPK actions”, he wrote.
Kosovo's Prosecutorial Council has unanimously voted for Blerim Isufaj for the new State Chief Prosecutor, who has been nominated for decree to the president.
