Austrian Chancellor Carl Nehammer said his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin has not left him optimistic that a diplomatic solution to the conflict in Ukraine is on the horizon, while the Russian president is locked in his logic about the nature of the conflict, writes The Guardian, continues Periscopi.
After the visit, Nehammer described as “direct, open and difficult” the talks and said he has announced Putin that the European Union will increase sanctions as long as there will be consequences of the war and made it known that he has revealed his impressions from Buka, a country he visited before his visit to Russia.
Putin staunchly rejected allegations of the Buka massacre, reports the newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine, saying they were false signs imposed by the Ukrainian side.
“Putin has reached a logic whose logic is determined by the war and is acting on this logic”, Nehammer said. Also, the Russian president continued to reject the term “War”.
