Blinken seeks Russia's departure from UN Human Rights Council

While US Secretary of State Antony Blinken condemned Russia's human rights abuses and violations of international humanitarian law while carrying out its attack on Ukraine, he suggested Russia's departure from the UN Council for Human Rights during a speech before the council Tuesday. “I can reason [...]
“> For good reason, it could be asked whether a UN member state trying to take control of another UN member state while committing terrible human rights abuses and causing massive humanitarian suffering should be allowed to stay at this council”, Blinken said.
There are 47 member states on the council, which are elected by the UN General Assembly, where one of them is Russia.
Blinken also criticised countries like China, which have not stated clearly that Russia is the sole author of this crisis.

The same applies to the members who falsely argue that the denouncing of human rights violations is denouncing the situation. This is failing to talk about human rights abuses that politicise the”, Blinken said.
Blinken challenged U n NHRC to unite to try and prevent an even more deadly war.
These are the human rights violations this council is created to stop. If we can't get together now, when are we going to come together?
