Zelensky: The Russians tried to catch me last night, we blew their plan.

Ukrainian President Voldymyr Zelensky has spoken in a video-edration, saying his country's forces have banned a Russian plan to capture him overnight and install their leadership.

He also called on the Russians to pressure President Vladimir Putin to stop the invasion.

We have ruined their plan,” said Zelensky.

Ukrainian forces controlled Kiev and its major cities, he said.

“Ukrainian has won the right to be a member of the European Union”, he added.

Ukraine is not currently an EU member, but has included in its constitution its aspirations to join the European bloc.
