The United States will send about 3,000 additional troops to Poland and Romania to strengthen Eastern Europe's defence capacity. In Romania, the White House will deploy a <x0 squad Stryker” from Germany's Wilsek, Reuters writes.
The Romanian Ministry said a portion of the American team will enter Romania around 20 o'clock Wednesday and will move across Romania by vehicles to the “Mihal Kogalnikeanu”, located in the eastern district of Constanta.
American forces have been exploiting this Black Sea air base since 1999. Romania, a NATO member since 2004, also maintains a ballistic missile defence system.
Cuadron “Stryker”, prepared to engage with quick orders, will be added to 900 other soldiers the United States has in Romania, some as part of NATO and some under bilateral agreements.
France has also made offers to be the leader of the NATO mission in Romania in the future. This mission could have about 1,000 troops from different countries, while a decision could be made at the upcoming meeting of NATO countries' defence ministers, held in mid-February.
