A child born in Kosovo today can expect to reach 57 per cent of its potential human capital. Even child mortality rates have increased by 1,000 births. So it was said in the first high-level organisation of early childhood development.
President Vjosa Osmani said investment in human capital is taking shape, since, as she said, for years it has been in concrete.
“Investing in early childhood is a time when we can determine the limit between poverty and prosperity. For years it has been this age where investment is left behind. In the country where early development services are not well integrated”, she said.
She vowed that the focus has on early childhood development investment.
It's the first few years of kids their brains develop. The bigger and more investment will be their return to investment in growing years. We need action, both in raising awareness, creating the right mechanisms, to empowering parents”, has added Osman.
Prime Minister Albin Kurti said child education is constitutional right.
The primary beneficiaries are children and parents, but investment also affects society. Investment on this level positively affects school preparation. In Kosovo, we face a lack of development of early child education. Priorities remain increasing child access to health indiscriminately. By improving legal infrastructure, we have worked on the draft law for early childhood”, he stated.
