Russian Ambassador to the UN Vassilily Nebenzia has told reporters that diplomats have been asked to leave the US until 7 March. He has said Russia will react to this move, as it is diplomatic practice.
Nebenzia has raised concern at the beginning of the UN Security Council meeting today, where it is discussing the situation in Ukraine.
He has described the U.S. movement as hostile and as violating its commitments as the host of the UN headquarters in New York.
And US Deputy Ambassador to the UN Richard Mills reacted.
“The diplomats who have been asked to leave the US were involved in activities that were not in accordance with their responsibilities and obligations as diplomats”, Mills said.
