Following yesterday's scandalous statement that they will not exclude Russia from Eurovision, as it is a cultural race and a co-operation with politics, the European Broadcasting Union today has changed its mind and has made the decision not to allow Russia's participation in Europe this year.
So they have made it known through a communiqué for the media EBU, indicating that this was done at the recommendation of the Eurovision management body, in accordance with EBU's rules and values.
Before making this decision, The EBU took time to consult extensively with its members”, said the communiqué.
“The EBU is a nonpolitical member organisation of broadcasters committed to preserving public service values. We remain committed to protecting the values of a cultural competition that promotes international exchange and understanding, unites the audience, celebrates diversity through music and unites Europe into a” scene, the announcement concludes.
