US President Joe Biden has held a telephone conversation with his counterpart from Russia, Vladimir Putin, about avoiding escalation of the conflict in Ukraine.
According to a media communique issued by the White House, President Biden reportedly urged Putin to avoid the idea of invasion of Ukraine, since “will cause human suffering”.
“President Biden reiterated that a further Russian invasion of Ukraine would produce widespread human suffering and reduce Russia's position”, says the White House, adding that Biden “was clear with President Putin that while the United States remains prepared to engage in diplomacy, in full co-ordination with our allies and partners, we are just as prepared for other scenarios”, according to the White House.
