Ambassador Houvenier's total congratulations on 14th anniversary of Kosovo Independence
Kosovo today celebrates 14 years of independence, 14 years as a sovereign country and as a reliable partner of the United States of America.
Kosovo's achievements over the past 14 years are nothing less than miracles of living democracy, capable economy, and leadership that Kosovo carries beyond its borders.
The United States of America is proud to call Kosovo partner and friend.
Partners help each other. That's why they were so happy that last week we were able to share half a million of the safe, effective doses in our joint fight against David-19.
In all, the American people have donated more than a million doses of vaccines and almost $10 million to help keep you and your families healthy and secure.
As we jointly celebrate this marked day, I promise you that the stable partnership we enjoy between our two countries Kosovo and the United States of America will only continue to grow in the coming years.
How do we do that? Together!
First, by supporting progress in the EU facilitated dialogue. We want to see Kosovo fully engaged in the region and integrated into European and Euro-Atlantic institutions. That means achieving the comprehensive agreement with Serbia focused on mutual recognition of Kosovo's sovereignty, its territorial integrity, or violating its Constitution.
It also means continuing to support the development of the Kosovo Security Force to the multiethnic force, the interoperable land defence force with NATO, which is not only capable of protecting Kosovo's borders but also, as it has already demonstrated, contributes to joint global security missions and supports efficient response to natural disasters.
Second, by supporting efforts towards good governance and further strengthening independent institutions of rule of law, we want to help Kosovo as long as it continues to build stable public institutions, efficient in providing services and sharing justice fairly for all citizens while simultaneously rooting out corruption.
Third and finally, we will continue to help you build stable and dynamic economies. An economy that gives priority to diversification of energy resources and has secure and sustainable power supplies; which boasts a strong private sector; attracts foreign direct investment; protects the environment; and preserves innovative talent.
So today, we stand by Kosovo to celebrate with you. We welcome you for all your achievements and welcome opportunities to support you while you use your options.
Happy Independence Day, Kosovo!
