The elections are the basic right of each citizen in a democratic country.

Kosovo police after accepting the Central Election Commission's request, today have assisted in functioning the offices of the Municipal Election Commissions in Zubin Potok and North Mitrovica, in order to continue the preparation process for the extraordinary municipal elections on December 18th.

From groups organised with several of their undercover individuals, Municipal Election Officials and police officials have been attacked with fellow bombings and shootings in the air to stop their official task.

Attacks such as this one is aimed at blocking the election process today are unacceptable. Organising elections is a constitutional obligation, while participating in them is the right of citizens who cannot be affected by anyone.

Kosovo police have already begun investigations to identify and bring to justice all criminals involved in today's attacks. Police will continue commitments under its mandate throughout the Republic of Kosovo to provide security, ensure order and rule of law.
