Police: Due to the settlement of barricades by criminal groups, Jarinje and Brnjak remain closed

In its reaction, police report that since the establishment of nine barricades from persons/ criminal groups, the security situation in the country's north continues to be the same, “as a consequence of these barricades, the two border checkpoints “Jarinje” and “Bernjak” still remain closed for circulation”.

The “Reference to the created situation, the blocking of roads, the case/attacks carried out by criminal groups have created new working circumstances and also affected the lives of the citizens of the area, who cannot have free movement and are not having easy access to their necessary services. Despite these circumstances created in the country's north, Kosovo police are engaged in all forms to help the demands and needs of non-discreet citizens, as well as to work on preventing criminal acts, which are being organised by persons involved in organised criminal groups from within and outside Kosovo”, it is said in the KP response.

In this direction, based on the information it possesses, Kosovo police say they are closely co-operating with relevant security institutions, in the undertaking of necessary legal measures, in the interest of maintaining the constitutional order of the RKS, enabling free movement and bringing the justice bodies of suspected persons to justice.

Kosovo's “Police continue to be welcomed by citizens at the country's level, including by residents in the north of the country, who co-operate with police units, offering security and police services to non-disputed citizens”, the announcement concludes.
