Krasniqi gathers the party's Political Council: Government not to surrender to barricades

Leader of The PDK, Memli Krasniqi, says the government's ignoring the situation in the north has only made it difficult to consolidate full sovereignty in that part of Kosovo and is jeopardising a new wave of Albanian departure. At a meeting he had with the PDK Political Council, Krasniqi has called on the government not to surrender to the barricades of Serbia-controlled criminal groups.

According to him, implementing legitimacy in the entire territory of the Republic of Kosovo requires, not compromise, but state leadership.

Krasniqi's full submission:

Today I have met the PDK Political Council, with which we have discussed recent developments in Kosovo. Along with the co-ordinator, the Arsim Bajrami Academy, we have expressed great concern with the new reality which is trying to be created in the northern part of Kosovo.

The neglect that the Government has made this situation has only made it difficult to consolidate full sovereignty in that part of Kosovo and is jeopardising a new wave of Albanian departure. Once again, we call on the government not to surrender to the barricades of Serbia-controlled criminal groups. Implementation of legitimacy on the entire territory of the Republic of Kosovo requires no compromise, but state leadership.

We have also discussed full-fledged admission to the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats of Europe (ALDE). Accession to ALDE comes as confirmation of the unification of European values and recognition of the substantial reforms PDK has made this year.

At a separate meeting I also met the PDK Branch Speakers, with whom we discussed political developments, municipal projects and, with particular emphasis, discrimination that the government is becoming to municipalities led by the PDK.

The Branch Speakers also talked about the performance of elections in the Democratic Youth of Kosovo, which, this time, will mark an extraordinary success for party democracy and empowerment.
