Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the MP from the ranks of the Socialist Party, who heads Portugal government from 2015, Sergio Soussa Pinto, said that along with MP de Sa, who comes from the ranks of the Social Democrat Party, represent Portugal's national consensus in terms of the region. As Kosovo's friend and ally, he confirmed Portugal's support towards Kosovo's full integration into Euro-Atlantic structures, the EU and NATO.
Kurti welcomed the Portuguese delegation to Kosovo and thanked Portugal for its early and continued support of our country, people and state, especially in the area of security through its troops under the KFOR mission. Among other things, he spoke of the important role Portugal can play in relation to non-recognitional countries, with emphasis on Spain and Brazil. As for good bilateral relations between Kosovo and Portugal, Kurti extended the invitation for increased trade, cultural and economic exchanges as he announced the delegation to the country's latest economic and democratic indicators, as well as the opportunities Kosovo offers for foreign investors.
In the end, views regarding the war in Ukraine were exchanged, for which they shared the same positions, naming it an act of unprotested and unwarranted aggression of the Russian Federation towards the people and the state of Ukraine. The prime minister announced the Portuguese delegation to the government's immediate decisions on the establishment of sanctions against Russia in accordance with the sanctions of the European Union, the United States of America and the United Kingdom, as well as the Government's programme to accommodate 20 Ukrainian journalists, 11 of whom are already residents of Pristina. He added that solidarity against Ukraine should continue.
