Phenani on Wednesday described his latest attack as a counteraction move against joint US and South Korean military exercises.
On Tuesday, cenan launched a rocket over Japan, prompting the US to call an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council.
At the meeting, the US accused Russia and China of protecting the North from stronger sanctions.
Rejecting further sanctions, Moscow and Beijing had given Pyongyang “full protection”, the US ambassador to the UN said. Chinese and Russian representatives said increasing dialogue was better than punishment.
For the past two months, the U.S.A., South Korea, and Japan have held a number of combined exercises while practicing how to overcome and obstruct a North Korean attack. These exercises North Korean leader Kim Jong sees them as proof his enemies are preparing for war.
In her statement, North Korea accused the U.S. of “escalation of military tensions on the Korean” peninsula. /Euronews albana
