Reducing reductions unknown, electricity price increase expected

After several heavy weeks, with frequent electricity reductions that countries spent in 24 hours, Kosovo citizens have been returning to their most regular electricity supply in recent days.

In terms of the current state of power-power supply, news.net has contacted KEDS spokesman Viktor Buzhala.

Buzhala has declared that the situation is stable, and now nearly two weeks have not become electricity restrictions.

He also stressed that this depends greatly on electricity prices in the region, which have actually fallen, on domestic production as well as demand.

Otherwise, it has become known that during these days, the ZERE will be expected to make the decision by the application that has been made for extraordinary tax review.

Thus, there is expected to be price increases, as demand is required based on formula.

Buzhala even stressed that on the basis of their expenses, there will be a regular examination and then in the spring.

“For tariffs entering into force from 1 April this year until 31 March next year. It's a regular process, there's a growth waiting. But we're not the authority that decides the ZRE. Unfortunately, it will be relatively high growth. It's going to be 30 to 40 percent growth on the basis of our estimates, for both times I say”, he said.

As for Kosovo's System, Transmission and Electricity Market Operator, it has been said that no funding for consumer restrictions for system balance purposes has been provided from December 30th 2021.

“COMM STT has not provided instructions to limit consumption for system balance purposes from December 30th to December 2021, since responsible operators in the market have provided needed electricity to cover”.

It is also stressed that consumer restriction programmes can distinguish from day to day depending on cargo and electricity security for covering consumption from responsible operators like KESCO/ KEDS and KEK.
