Coronervirus has made it difficult to supply stuff all over the world, ranging from fuel, masks, vaccines to vacation presents.

This situation has made Norway's army face a lack of supply that is especially personal. Recruits are required to wear formerly used underwear, including socks, bras, and underwear, returned by recruits performing their ministry.

The plan to return the clothing was initially thought to be voluntary, as the pandemic led to delays in surrender. But officials have now made it mandatory to hand over all clothing and cleaning and reuse equipment after graduation, announced the Norwegian state broadcaster NRK, broadcasts Klankosova.tv.

Norway, a member of NATO that shares a northern border with Russia, introduced mandatory military service for both men and women in 2015. About eight thousand recruits complete the programme annually, and the initial service generally lasts 12 to 19 months.

The spokesman for the Armed Forces, the lieutenant colonel, Vegad Norstad Finberg, told the defense that clothes have been washed and checked for quality, and damaged items have been discarded, while minor injuries have been repaired.

The Norwegian Defence Ministry did not immediately respond to a request for comments Sunday.

Eiric Sjohell Eixund, a spokesman for the defence union, said reuse of the clothes was “problem “and that the lack of clothing was also causing soldiers to walk in wool socks full of holes in the country's cold north, after they were given only one party for all the service.

A spokesman for the Armed Forces Logistic Organisation said the army is trying to avoid such shortages with its plan for soldiers to return their underwear after the service is completed.
