“We have questions about why they invited this organisation in which Russia dominated”, Blinken said in an interview for the “show. State of the Nation” on CNN.
He believes Kazakhstan should respond to the protests peacefully.
At the invitation of President Kasim Jomart Tokayev, the Russian-led CSTO forces arrived in Kazakhstan, and Tokyev issued an order for the army to shoot, as he said, “terrorists” without warning.
Blinken said the order to shoot the protesters was wrong and had to be annulled.
Kazakhstan authorities announced today that they have stabilised the situation in the country after the protests, in which, according to the latest data from the Health Ministry, 164 people were killed.
The protests caused rising fuel prices, and then they escalated into riots and clashes with security forces.
