Former minister and LDK official Skender Hyseni has reacted after the letter US Secretary of State has sent to Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, where the American requirements have been accurately specified regarding the negotiations process between Kosovo and Serbia. He has criticised both government and opposition.
Skender Hyseni says dialogue and the final agreement with Serbia should be the first priority of any Government in Kosovo, until it adds that without delay this process should return to track.
“Dialog with Serbia and the full normalisation of bilaterally recognised interstate relations is and should be the priority of any Kosovo government. Therefore, without delay, dialogue with Serbia must be restored to the right frame”, Hyseni wrote.
He says any further procrastination of the process would swear status quo and jeopardise the citizenship and independence of the Republic of Kosovo.
“Any further stalling of the agreement with Serbia, Kosovo can swear to status-quo, which in practical terms means isolation and its risk of citizenship and independence” has added further.
Full response:
Do not play with the fate and future of Kosovo!
The statue-called in reports with Serbia is Kosovo's biggest enemy today and tomorrow!
Since the resumption of dialogue with Serbia in July 2020, Kosovo had managed to put communication with the world around this topic on track, not allowing our state to be exposed to plans and influences by destabilising factors aimed at undermining the constitutional order and security in Kosovo and the Balkans. Strengthening partnership and communication and systematic co-ordination with the US and other Quinti countries had returned to track.
Dialogue with Serbia and the full normalisation of interstate relations with mutual recognition is and should be the priority of any Kosovo government. Therefore, without delay, dialogue with Serbia must be restored to the right framework.
So it is the responsibility of the current Kosovo authorities that dialogue with Serbia, as an inevitable and necessary process for a comprehensive Agreement, be set as priority and urgency. Such an agreement is essential and necessary to conclude the long historical and political conflict between Kosovo and Serbia, which is essentially the conflict between Albanians and Serbs in general.
Any further stallion of the agreement with Serbia, Kosovo can swear to status quo, which in practical terms means isolation and risk of its citizenship and independence.
Kosovo's long-term stability and international consolidation of citizenship through the rounding of its subjectivity is not possible without a mutual recognition agreement between Kosovo and Serbia. There can be no progress on Kosovo's road to membership in NATO or the EU without this agreement being reached. They're direct related issues. In this context, communication and systematic co-ordination with the new American administration of President Biden should urgently be established. In Washington, Brussels, Berlin, London, Paris and Rome, the new government must intensify its presence and efforts to keep Kosovo on the agenda. The permits for reaching the Agreement for normalising relations between Kosovo and Serbia as two states are in these capitals, bearing in mind that the agreement with Serbia has a special significance, which is weakening Russian influence and role in the Balkans. So, the Kosovo government must harmonise its policies and interests with the politics of our partners in the Balkans and their interests.
At the time when dialogue with Serbia and normalisation of relations continue to be the number one priority as far as the Balkans are concerned, Kosovo's government continues its irreversive policy on increasingly exclusive calls from Kosovo partners. The last of these calls is American Secretary Blinken's letter sent to Prime Minister Kurti on January 11th, where the urgency, weight and importance of dialogue with Serbia are clearly highlighted and normalisation through recognition of the accord.
It is the time for this government to abandon its popular policy and tension rhetoric, which is in full conflict with the country's vital interests.
Even the opposition, currently asleep and calculated Kosovo, must realize that today nothing more is incompatible with the Serb Islamist strategy and Russian interests than pending, in a frozen state of Kosovo-Serbia conflict, and therefore keeping the Western Balkans in permanent condition!
This behaviour of Kosovo's current prime minister, including the opposition, seriously undermines the country's long-term interests. The position and opposition are being singled out with little power and a handful of votes, which seems to have the only concern, not getting tired of the country's long-term interests. So, ignoring completely the real problems and the urgency of closing the conflict with Serbia.
This political resonance and this attitude and opposition position, Kosovo takes it to the club of countries or territories without subjectivity, where it can remain forever, as a site of experience and curture on the global level!
Sing! Don't play with the fate and future of the country!
