After more than 10 hours of negotiations with the police, the four who were held hostage in a synagogue in the suburb of Dallas, Texas, were rescued without injury, while police have shot the author to death.
The incident took place in the small city of Texas of Colleyville City and reports that the author was seeking the release of a convicted terrorist.
Colleyville Police Chief Michael Miller said at a press conference: A rescue team entered the synagogue. Suspect is dead. He hasn't damaged any of the hostages, they're all in good health.
Meanwhile, journalists reported that there was a strong explosion and gunfire in the synagogue until shortly before the police press conference.
ABC News reported that the kidnapper was armed and had claimed to have bombs in unknown locations. But that wasn't confirmed by police, even though Miller said the “bomb technologies are inspecting the scene”.
According to ABC News, the man was seeking the release of Aafia Siddiqui, who is named “Mrs. Kaeda” from the American Pharmacies.
DeSharno said at the press conference that the suspect had been identified, but did not disclose his identity.
