In this regard, the Government of Kosovo has said the decision has been made based on recommendations of the Technical Committee for “Emergency Measures in the supply of energy”.
“Technical Committee for “Emergency measures in supply of energy” has provided some recommendations, two of which have entered into force through the December 31st 2021 decision. This decision has included recommendations by the Technical Committee for the break-up of cryptova peace production throughout the territory of the Republic of Kosovo, as well as technical recommendation on the exploitation of energy provided by the Republic of Albania for the holiday season”, the Kosovo Government reportedly is responding.
The government has further stressed that in 2021 electricity consumption has increased considerably, and that one factor in consumer growth is believed to be the production of cryptovatluts in the country, with particular emphasis in the north, where because of its lack of electricity, the production of cryptovas is considered to be the highest in the country.
“Saltovatolus production spends considerable amount of electricity. To illustrate, production of a cryptovalute, given conservative figures, consumes energy as much as 19 average Kosovo homes per year. This, in turn, takes into account the factors of the most specialized devices that process faster data and therefore consume more energy, large spaces, and equipment to cool devices that work all the time and so on. This whole process spends electricity and energy, whose import is currently being partially subsidised by the Government of the Republic of Kosovo. Furthermore, this activity does not lead to employment of the workforce, as well as cryptova peace producers do not pay taxes for this activity in the Republic of Kosovo, as this activity is not regulated by law”, they say.
The government has made it known that the Technical Committee, taking into account the top facts and local situation caused by the global energy crisis, has recommended to the economy minister to make a decision to cut off activity in question.
After the recommendations of the Technical Committee, Minister Rizvanolli has decided on emergency measures to cope with the energy crisis where cryptova peace production is banned in the country. Identifying production locations as well as cutting these activities will be done on the part of law and order bodies in close co-operation with relevant energy sector institutions. The emergency decision to deal with the energy crisis remains in force until the next decision is made, given the recommendations of the Technical Committee when it is estimated that the energy situation has stabilised, which abolishes the” preliminary, says the Government's response to Telegrafi.
