The UN official community on sanctions reportedly reaffirms US commitment to Bosnia and Herzegovina's sovereignty.
These sanctions reaffirm the US's commitment to Bosnia and Herzegovina's sovereignty and territorial integrity, rule of law and democratic institutions, as well as a better future for citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina. US Treasury Undersecretary Brian Nelson has declared that Dodik has tried to breach the Dayton Agreement by threatening Bosnian but regional stability.
Milorad Dodik's corrupt targets and efforts to undermine the Dayton Agreement motivated by personal interest have threatened the stability of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the entire region. The US will not hesitate to act against those who pursue corruption, desbilisation and division at the expense of their people, as well as against those who try and facilitate this behavior”, the US Undersecretary said.
The Treasury's move comes after President Joe Biden had signed an Executive Order in June 2021, where he envisioned blocking property and suspending entry into the United States of designated persons contributing to the destabilising situation in the Western Balkans.
