Serbia's Parliament Speaker, Ivica Dacic, has said it is their interest to membership in the European Union, but must protect national interests when it comes to Kosovo.
Dacic made these comments on the eve of the referendum to be held in Serbia for constitutional changes. The referendum will be held on 16 January.
Serbia moves towards the EU. It is our interest to be an EU member, but of course it is an interest to protect national and state interests without compromise in the direction of knowing Kosovo, or something similar. This is unacceptable to us. The referendum has nothing to do with recognising Kosovo”, Dacic said on Happy TV.
With the current constitution, Serbia has Kosovo as part of it, and despite international calls, even new constitutional changes, it is not expected to change that.
